The Queen's Visit

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip visited Wick on Monday 27th of May 2002 as part of the Queen's Jubilee tour of Scotland, and whilst the crowds of people waited for their arrival in the Market Square, Wick RBLS pipe band, alongwith the band from Thurso played a number of sets. The weather must have been cheered up by such rousing music, for it decided to smile upon Wick and for the duration of the Royal 'walkabout' in the Market Square, the sun shone.

Before the Queen and Prince Philip boarded their train for the next leg of their journey to Aberdeen, the two bands again played at the station. To the tunes of 'Caberfeidh' and 'The Black Bear' the royal couple were waved off from the station by a large gathering of wellwishers. Band members were honoured to have been asked to be part of such an auspicious and historic occasion.
